The 'Germania' was built from 1877-1883 and is located above Rüdesheim. The monument, which is 38 meters high, symbolizes the reconstruction of the German imperial empire after the Franco-German War of 1870-1871 and is now regarded as the landmark of the region. You can reach it by car (parking behind the monument) or by cable car. The walk to the valley station of the funicular in the Oberstrasse is about 5 minutes. A walk from our hotel to the monument takes about an hour and goes uphill.
